About Maria

Maria Pregnolato is a Lecturer in Civil Engineering and EPSRC Research Fellow at the University of Bristol. Her project “Resilience of national transport networks to flood-induced bridge failures” is within the Living with Environmental Change (LWEC) area and investigates the impact of flooding on bridges and transportation.

Beginning her academic career at Newcastle University, Maria developed an integrated flood-transport model to explore the impact of flooding on road networks.

Maria believes that science has a crucial role in developing solutions to global change and demand, by improving the resilience and the quality of urban infrastructure through applied research.
